Decendents of Abramham

A good reason one might assume that Abraham and his decedents were closely linked or maybe even part of the Amorite people is because of the frequent mention throughout patriarchal narrative about Abraham and his descendants were of Aramean stock(Deut. 26:5). When Issac went looking for a wife for his brother, from amongst his relatives he was sent to his uncle’s house who is described as Laban the Aramean (Gen25:20; 31:20,28:5)  Jacob went to the region called Paddan- Aram ( the field of Aram Gen. 28:2) The chief city  of this Aramean region was called Haran (Gen.28:10) and was known as the center of the new Amorite settlement. Pertaining to this connection between the Aramean and Amorites, Haran was the name of one of Abrahams brothers
(Gen 11:31) archaeologists have established existence of several towns that have names identical with, or a Campion with the personal names found in the Bible, Nahoor the name of Abrahams  Grandfather and brother ( Gen. 11:24,24:10)  Terah Abrahams’s father (Gen. 11:26) Pelug and serug are direct ancestors of Abraham ( Gen 11:16,20) however no one knows(or is sure) how these towns came to be named. It is not unlikely that they were name for the clan that founded them or captured them and that these chiefs of these clans are the same named in the Bible. Another possibility concerning this amazing mystery is that possibly biblical characters took their names from local towns who knows possibilities are endless, but the interesting thing pertaining to the correspondence between the names, significantly gives support to the acknowledgment people have made applicable  to the date the patriarchs these names are known to have been current only 300 year period, under discussion Abraham, Jacob, Benjamin , Zebulun, Ishmael and Levi all were used as personal names among the Amorites.

The flood

God saw that the wickedness in the earth was great and according to Genesis 6:5-6 he was sorry he ever created humans, this is where the flood kicks in, God decided to destroy the earth all except Noah and his family who were persevered in the Ark, much like Genesis is The Gilgamesh epic of ancient Babylon, this story is about gods who in a moment destroy mankind by sending a flood on earth. The flood marked the end of wicked civilization, and new culture was created when God made a covenant with Noah, assurance that by no means would humankind ever suffer from a flood again. But the seasons would remain (Genesis 8:22) God showed his faithfulness pertaining to the covenant by “a bow in the cloud” (9:13) interestingly the Hebrew word for “bow” has relations to a weapon… Israel did not see the rainbow as a heavenly ornament to remind them of God’s promise, but a weapon of God’s wrath which he vowed to never to use again.

Creation

Now the history of mankind is such a lovely intriguing topic, but it is always good to recognize, that during the account of creation (Genesis 1-2) is not to be identified as evidence to prove scientific explanations of the development of the universe. For example, the word “day” is a twenty-four hour period; this does not mean we should assume this is scientific evidence concerning how the world came about, but to take it as it is God’s purpose in the process, God being all knowing and powerful he could have just created us before the sixth day but he didn’t, he created us on the sixth day, after everything had already been created I think it’s obvious and safe to say we need God, God does not need us.
